Systematic Study of Legacy Phosphorus (P) Desorption Mechanisms in High-P Agricultural Soils

نویسندگان

چکیده

Repeated manure additions containing phosphorus (P) in excess of crop needs have led to many agricultural soils with high levels soil P (i.e., legacy P), particularly the Delmarva region (USA). Due potential for release, it is important gain a better understanding mechanisms desorption and solubilization. Agricultural were collected from Peninsula, pools determined using suite wet chemical spectroscopic techniques, including modified Hedley sequential extraction X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy. Five different solutions used investigate removal efficiency assess release mechanisms. The results indicate that sulfate can stronger competition than silicate, especially ditch sample 21% labile 44% adsorbed iron aluminum (via extraction). Additionally, linear combination fitting 10.5% organic 73.9% associated aluminum. This an finding because prevalent ion sea water, coastal area are threatened by level rise inundation.

Sorption-desorption of indaziflam in selected agricultural soils.

Indaziflam, a new alkylazine herbicide that inhibits cellulose biosynthesis, is under current development for soil applications in perennial crops and nonagricultural areas. Sorption and desorption of indaziflam in six soils from Brazil and three soils from the United States, with different physical chemical properties, were investigated using the batch equilibration method. Sorption kinetics d...

Rhizosphere Organic Anions Play a Minor Role in Improving Crop Species' Ability to Take Up Residual Phosphorus (P) in Agricultural Soils Low in P Availability

Many arable lands have accumulated large reserves of residual phosphorus (P) and a relatively large proportion of soil P is less available for uptake by plants. Root released organic anions are widely documented as a key physiological strategy to enhance P availability, while limited information has been generated on the contribution of rhizosphere organic anions to P utilization by crops grown...

Modeling the movement of phosphorus in some selected agricultural soils in Nigeria

This research investigate clayey, lateritic and sandy soils have been selected from agricultural lands in the South-Eastern Nigeria, for their phosphate sorption characteristics using column experiments, in order ascertain the movement of phosphate in the soils. The soil samples were equilibrated in 25ml of 0.01M CaCl2  containing different concentrations of P as KH2PO4 to produce initial conc...

Vertical distribution of phosphorus in agricultural drainage ditch soils.

Pedological processes such as gleization and organic matter accumulation may affect the vertical distribution of P within agricultural drainage ditch soils. The objective of this study was to assess the vertical distribution of P as a function of horizonation in ditch soils at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Research Farm in Princess Anne, Maryland. Twenty-one profiles were sampled fro...
